If you’re looking for a place to enjoy breakfast or brunch in Port Lincoln, discover authentic French pastries or simply slow down over a great cup of coffee, we’d love to welcome you to L’Anse French Café.
Since 2018, our passion has been to combine French culinary craftsmanship with the relaxed spirit of South Australia. From the pastries coming out of our bakery to the dishes served at your table, we want every visit to L’Anse to feel like a little escape.
If there is one thing you absolutely have to try when visiting us, it’s our croissants.
At L’Anse, we make our French croissants using traditional lamination techniques that require time, precision and patience. Butter and dough are carefully folded to create the delicate layers that give a great croissant its unmistakable texture.
The result?
A beautifully golden and flaky exterior that gives way to a light, airy centre with the rich buttery flavour you expect from an authentic French croissant.
Our commitment to traditional craftsmanship has even earned our croissants recognition as the Best Croissant in South Australia.
But don’t just take our word for it.
The best way to understand what makes them special is to taste one fresh from our bakery.
You don’t need a flight to Paris to enjoy a proper French café experience.
At L’Anse French Café in Port Lincoln, our French heritage influences everything from the pastries we bake to the way we think about food.
For us, French café culture is about more than what is on the plate. It is about slowing down, enjoying good food, sharing a table and taking time over a coffee.
That philosophy has been part of L’Anse since our beginnings in 2018.
Our name, L’Anse, means “the cove” in French and pays tribute to our beginnings near the beautiful coastline of Tumby Bay.
Today, we bring that combination of French heritage and South Australian coastal living to Port Lincoln.
Walk through our doors and you’ll find freshly baked pastries, the aroma of coffee, a warm atmosphere and a team ready to welcome you.
Whether you’re a local or exploring the Eyre Peninsula, stop by and enjoy your own little French escape.
You might come for the croissants, but there are plenty of reasons to stay for brunch.
Our breakfast, brunch and lunch in Port Lincoln bring together French inspiration and the laid-back Australian café culture we love.
Looking for something indulgent?
Try one of our croissant-based dishes or settle in with a generous breakfast.
Prefer something fresh or savoury?
Our menu also includes egg dishes, avocado options and seasonal creations designed to make breakfast worth getting out of bed for.
One of our signature choices is the Croissant Madame, which transforms the classic French croissant into a rich and satisfying brunch dish.
You can also discover dishes such as our chilli scrambled eggs and other sweet and savoury options depending on our current menu.
Whether it’s a quick weekday breakfast, a long weekend brunch with friends or somewhere special to eat while visiting Port Lincoln, pull up a chair and stay a while.
From 11:30 am, our kitchen moves from breakfast into lunch in Port Lincoln, and the menu gets a little heartier. If you are wondering where to eat lunch in Port Lincoln that isn’t seafood, this is where L’Anse really comes into its own.
Our Chimichurri Steak Sandwich brings together rump steak, a bright Argentine chimichurri, provolone, rocket and red onion on house-made focaccia. The Nduja & Fennel Sausage Ragù Pasta is rich and gently spicy, with fennel, pork sausage and pecorino. And our house-made brioche buns hold two lunch favourites, the Smoky Beef and the Crispy Chicken, which have helped make us a contender for the best burger in Port Lincoln.
There is always a chef’s special on the board, vegetarian plates like the Falafel Plate and the Corn Fritter, and dishes marked GFO for guests looking for gluten-free options in Port Lincoln. Pair your lunch with a glass of South Australian wine, a Port Lincoln-brewed Salty Session Ale or a mimosa, and finish with something from the pastry counter.
Our kitchen closes at 2 pm, so plan to sit down between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. On weekends and during school holidays, booking a table is the easiest way to make sure you get your lunch.
Choosing just one pastry can be difficult.
And we’re perfectly happy with that.
Our pastry counter celebrates the craftsmanship of French pâtisserie, with handmade creations prepared for our customers in Port Lincoln.
Alongside our classic Butter Croissant and Almond Croissant, you can discover tarts, cakes and other artisanal pastries, with our selection changing depending on availability and season.
And then there are creations like our Pistachio Cube, made for those days when an ordinary pastry simply isn’t enough.
We want every visit to give you another reason to look at the counter and wonder, “What should I try this time?”
Our advice?
Come hungry.
And if there’s something you absolutely don’t want to miss, pre-order it.
Great food matters, but so does where you eat it.
We want L’Anse to be somewhere you can actually enjoy spending time.
Our café brings together French café culture and the relaxed coastal atmosphere of Port Lincoln, creating a space that feels welcoming rather than formal.
Meet a friend for brunch.
Bring the family for breakfast.
Stop in for coffee.
Treat yourself to a pastry.
Or simply find a quiet moment during a busy day.
There doesn’t always need to be a special occasion.
Sometimes a croissant is reason enough.
We may be French at heart, but L’Anse is proudly at home in South Australia.
Our approach brings together French culinary traditions and the produce, flavours and relaxed lifestyle of our Australian home.
Seasonality influences our menu and gives us opportunities to create dishes and pastries that evolve throughout the year.
That balance is an important part of who we are.
We are not trying to recreate a Parisian café thousands of kilometres away from Paris.
We are creating our own version of it.
One inspired by France, shaped by South Australia and made for Port Lincoln.
It means there can always be something new to taste, even if you have visited us before.

"Lovely little French cafe. Owner was super lovely. Food was tasty and the pancakes looked like a work of art! Coffee was great also! We came around 11am and a lot of the pastries were sold out and we managed to get the last serving of pancakes. So suggest going earlier if you want to try all the options. At 11.30 you can order some savoury options. Would definitely recommend!"
"The perfection of the croissants and cafe took me straight back to a renowned Boulangerie in Dijon. To mix it up a bit i had a raspberry croissant which you would expect in a Pâtisserie. Do take the time to indulge as it is truly worth it. C'est absolument délicieux!"
"Never thought a simple croissant could make me come back two days in a row, and even take a few to-go before leaving Port Lincoln! If you're visiting, this place is a must-try. Every dish is delicious, but don't miss the croissants – they're a game changer! The Chili Scrambled Eggs are creamy with just the right amount of spice, and the Truffle Mushroom is perfectly rich and savory. The Croissant Madame is an absolute feast with truffle sauce, cheese, and a runny egg. Make sure to arrive early, as they're always busy!"
"A charming French patisserie with absolutely delightful and flavorful creations! The croissants are also truly fabulous: light and full of taste. The service is warm and personal, making every visit feel special. I treated myself here for three days in a row and each time was pure joy. Many heartfelt thanks and see you again soon!"
"We recently had breakfast while staying in Port Lincoln. It was amazing! I had the best scrambled eggs I had ever eaten and hubby had the breakfast board and he was very satisfied, although he also ate half of mine as they were very generous servings. We also purchased 4 of their award winning croissants and they were also delicious. If you are visiting Port Lincoln do yourself a favour and stop in."
"The new spring menu is out and it is absolutely delicious!!! 5 stars just doesn't seem enough to give as a review!! My personal favourite is the Nduja & Fennel Sausage Ragu pasta! A great amount of heat with out of this world flavor. My husband raved about the Smoked Fish Croquette, and that bearnaise sauce deserves a standing ovation! The Pistachio cube is heaven on earth, that pairs beautifully with a hot coffee. Both of the owners Grace and Marvin go out of their way to make you feel welcome!"
"Always amazing! Every visit feels special. The food is not only delicious but also beautifully presented, and the coffee is rich and perfectly made. What really makes this café stand out is the people, Pierre and Brendon went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. Their kindness, genuine smiles, and attention to detail made our time here unforgettable. Thank you for making every visit such a pleasure!"
"A Port Lincoln must do!! Probably the most delicious croissant and pan au chocolat I've had other than in Paris. I've been to Lune Croissanterie in Melbourne and Sydney and these were far better! Flaky, buttery deliciousness. Coffee was good too. If you're after a quick takeaway coffee and croissant you won't get better. You can also see the pastry chef working the laminator through the window in store. 10/10."
"The perfect gem in Port Lincoln! Excellent quality, one of the best croissants in Australia, and absolutely delicious vegetarian options. Great concept all along - the team definitely deserve their multiple awards"
"A French Bakery......like kryptonite to Superman 😄 breakfast of Kings not to be missed. Once you've conquered the full fat delicious breaky you must take some pastry souvenirs 😋 Service was great, venue cosy and the star food sensational!!"
